Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

Description

Kaynic Construction is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our industrial operations by inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment. This is a full-time position, including day and night shifts, offering a competitive hourly wage and comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety First: Actively participate in and promote Kaynic’s safety culture, adhering to health and safety programs, policies, and regulations. Complete required safety training and maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Install, inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and chain-drive systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct predictive and preventative maintenance using techniques such as vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and equipment diagnostics to maximize uptime and reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other trades and team members to enhance safety, efficiency, and production quality in a collaborative team environment.
  • Project Support: Assist in planning and executing shutdowns and capital projects, ensuring timely and safe completion.
  • Technical Expertise: Read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings, perform light welding and fabrication.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor apprentice millwrights, contributing to their professional development.

Requirements

  • Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certification or Fourth-Year Millwright Apprentice status.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in heavy industry (e.g., construction, mining, or wood products).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong background in industrial construction, particularly with experience on projects such as sawmills, plywood or OSB mills, pulp and paper mills, wood pellet plants, LVL plants, timber drying kilns, concrete batch plants, modular building factories, or food processing facilities.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are an asset.
  • Ability to operate mobile equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor settings, confined spaces, and at heights in all weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to teamwork.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and tasks.
